Stephanie Sherwood & Allison Honeycutt

Opening:  5:30p, Saturday, April 2, 2016

Ms. Sherwood has an extremely involved, objective way of presenting decaying meat.  The muted colors of deterioration, the apparent presence of animal body parts are simultaneously represented and abstracted in studied and skillful expression.  Being a vegetarian, Stephanie has no experience about being a “meat eater” and can apprehend her form and subject matter in a kind of curiosity and innocence in which she is compelled to continuously investigate.

Allison Honeycutt challenges in a whimsical and mischievous way, the perception of the female form of specific body parts represented in panties and bras and flesh suits.  She takes underwear, her media, which pretends to hide that which must be hidden and brings it to the front--to the surface.  Her society of fake fur, ribbons, birds nests, grasses, string, wool, paper, rawhide, latex, wigs, moss, erasers and teddy bears builds a lovely community of women in all their differences, presented in the camaraderie of womanhood.
